Before getting a crown, it’s good to know as much as you can about this restorative dental treatment. At Nashville Restorative Dentistry, we offer CEREC same-day crowns for our patients in the Franklin, Tennessee, area. Drs. Ryan Jones and Caleb Estes are your go-to dentists for CEREC same-day crowns. We’re happy to answer your questions about CEREC crowns so you’ll better understand what they are, what to expect, and why they’re an excellent choice for repairing teeth.
Crowns are tooth-shaped caps or coverings placed over existing teeth to repair, protect, or improve their structure. Traditional crown treatment can take several days to multiple weeks to complete due to an impression having to be sent to an offsite lab to fabricate the dental crown, and all the while, you are wearing a temporary crown on your tooth. CEREC crowns are unique because they can be digitally designed, CAD/CAM milled, finished and permanently cemented on the same day of your initial dental appointment. One appointment, no temporaries, only have to get numb once.
Convenience is one of the most significant advantages of CEREC crowns. Rather than waiting weeks to repair the damage, CEREC crowns can restore your smile in a matter of an hour or two. They’re digitally designed and characterized to look natural and pleasing next to your natural teeth. CEREC crowns are made from the same ceramic or zirconia material an outside lab would use to restore the tooth; the only difference is that we don’t have to wait for an outside lab to make them. Getting a CEREC crown saves you time, money, and frustration. CEREC ceramic crowns are strong and process the longevity needed to provide your teeth with the necessary protection to function for many years. CEREC technology eliminates the need for a temporary crown, as there’s no waiting period to complete your treatment.
Issue – Significant acidic damage to enamel wrapping around the majority of the teeth creating significant sensitivity and the desire for recreating her smile.
Solution – All ceramic crowns were used to cover and replace the tooth structure that had been damaged and restored all the teeth to a beautifully natural appearance.
Drs. Jones or Estes will assess your tooth to confirm that a crown is the best treatment for you. Then, we’ll prepare your tooth to receive the crown by reshaping or modifying its structure. Next, we’ll take a digital scan of your tooth, design the crown digitally using CEREC software, and send it to the milling machine to be milled from a block of the chosen material. Using CAD/CAM CEREC technology, your crown is custom-designed and fabricated while you wait comfortably, watching TV, getting work done, or taking a snooze. When your crown is ready, we’ll confirm a perfect fit and cement it in place to restore your tooth’s appearance and functionality.
If a crown is the appropriate treatment for your needs, there are not many reasons that would prevent you from being a CEREC crown candidate. We are fabricating nearly all of our single-tooth crowns in-office. If your restorative needs are more complex or electively cosmetic-focused, there are still times when we will utilize the skills of our outside lab ceramists.
