Full-Mouth Rehabilitation

A treatment approach that aims to restore health, comfortable function, and the esthetic appearance of the entire mouth. This process can take someone who still has all or most of their teeth and visually transform them by placing crowns or veneers over the natural teeth to restore their proper function and appearance. Alternatively, for those who have lost most or all of their teeth, dental implants can be used as a foundation on which to place a natural-looking prosthetic that replaces all that’s been lost. There can be many treatment options to consider when approaching this type of care and we promise to help empower you to make decisions you confidently understand and that accomplish your highest priorities.

What is Restorative Dentistry?
What is Restorative Dentistry and how can it help you get the beautiful smile you want? Dr. Ryan Jones explains what kind of services fall under Restorative Dentistry, then goes on to reveal the full meaning of Nashville Restorative Dentistry's ever-important middle name. Click the link below to learn more about the Restorative Dentistry services offered by Dr. Jones and the team at NRD.

Restorative dentistry, specifically, is the part of dentistry that’s focused on repairing something that’s broken. So filling a cavity, putting a crown on a tooth that’s cracked, and even in children preventative stuff like sealants — that would fall in the technical term of what restorative dentistry is. How Nashville Restorative Dentistry got its name when we put “restorative” in the name Nashville Restorative Dentistry, our idea, however, was something bigger than that. So we’re talking about the restoration of confidence in someone that’s not happy with their smile, the restoration of health, in someone that’s dealing with pain or infection, the restoration of being confident or secure in knowing that you don’t have toxic materials in your mouth or something that’s negatively affecting the overall health of your body. So our idea of restorative is bigger than just fixing something. It’s about really looking at the person as a whole.

Crowns, Inlays, Onlays, and Bridges

Ceramic restorations fit over or into natural teeth and are used to strengthen fractured teeth or repair bad cavities and broken teeth. They can be made to look exactly like your natural teeth or dramatically alter and improve their color, shape, or position. We always use metal-free ceramic and zirconia crowns, providing you with the most aesthetically pleasing and safest materials. The majority of our crowns are finished in just one appointment using our in-office CEREC technology. This method prevents the inconvenience of wearing a temporary restoration and returning for a second appointment to get the permanent.  Click here to learn more about the technologies we feature.

Dentures

Natural looking removable replacements for your missing teeth. Dentures are the most economical way to replace all or most of your teeth, and they can still provide a stunning improvement of your smile and ability to eat. Implants can also be used to help stabilize dentures, increasing your confidence and ability to smile and chew with security.

Root Canals

A treatment option for treating infected or painful teeth, allowing you to preserve your natural tooth and avoid an extraction and potential replacement. This is accomplished by removing infected or inflamed nerve tissue from inside the root of the tooth. We utilize ozone gas during our root canal procedures to enhance your treatment outcome. As with all treatment decisions, we will discuss the pros and cons of a root canal with you and assist you in deciding if it is in line with your health goals.

FAQs

What types of materials are used in restorative dentistry?

Dentists commonly use materials like glass ceramics, zirconia, composite resin, and acrylics in restorative dentistry to restore damaged teeth. Ceramics and composite are popular for their natural appearance, while zirconia offers durability for back teeth. Acrylics are great for more temporary tooth repair solutions or for removable appliances like partial and complete dentures. Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes will recommend the best material based on your needs, balancing aesthetics, strength, and durability. We choose each material to match the location and function of the restoration for the best long-term outcome.

Can restorative dentistry prevent further dental damage?

Absolutely! Restorative dentistry can help prevent further damage to your teeth. It is always easier to fix a problem while it is small. Procedures like fillings, crowns, and dental bonding restore the structure of damaged teeth, preventing decay from spreading or cracks from worsening. Additionally, treatments like root canals can potentially save teeth from needing extraction. Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes evaluate your dental health to address any current issues and plan towards reducing the risk of more serious problems in the future, preserving your natural teeth for a lifetime of healthy function.

Are restorative dental treatments covered by insurance?

Restorative dental treatments are often paid towards by dental insurance, though the extent of coverage varies depending on your plan. Common procedures like fillings, crowns, and dentures are typically covered; more complex treatments may require additional approval. Nashville Restorative Dentistry will work with you to help you understand your insurance benefits and help maximize coverage for your restorative procedures. We also offer financing options if you need assistance covering out-of-pocket expenses.

How long will a restorative dental treatment remain effective?

Nothing lasts forever. At the same time, no restorative dentistry treatments have expiration dates that require replacement. We aim to provide dental work that far outlasts the estimates of how long a procedure will remain effective. The lifetime of a restorative dental treatment will depend on the procedure and materials used. Fillings can last five to ten years, crowns typically last ten to fifteen, dentures can last ten or more with proper care, and properly healed dental implants can last a lifetime. Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes will provide recommendations on maintaining your restorations and protecting them from wear and tear, ensuring they remain effective for as long as possible.

Can restorative dentistry enhance the look of my smile?

Yes! Restorative dentistry can greatly enhance the appearance of your smile. Dental veneers, crowns, and bonding procedures can correct imperfections like chips, cracks, or discoloration. Dental implants or bridges restore both function and appearance if you’ve lost teeth. Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes will discuss your goals and design a personalized treatment plan that restores your dental health and helps you achieve a more confident and beautiful smile.

Will my restorative treatments be comfortable?

Restorative dentistry aims to restore the function and comfort of your teeth. Nashville Restorative Dentistry uses advanced techniques and materials to ensure that your restorations perform properly and feel natural. We provide multiple sedation options if you are anxious about having dental work performed. We are also committed to ensuring your treatment is successful and will stand behind our work if anything needs to be adjusted or attended to once the procedure is completed.
