How does it work?

Put simply, Six Month Smiles is able to give our patients their best smile so quickly thanks to the latest technology in adult orthodontics. It uses the same concepts as traditional orthodontics, but replaces the metallic look with clear brackets and white wires. It works quickly because your back teeth and bite aren’t changed. The focus is on moving your front teeth into a more ideal position. Only focusing on the front teeth allows treatment times to be much shorter than traditional braces. Most cases have monthly visits to monitor progress and perform necessary updates. In about 6 months your teeth will be straight and the braces can be removed.

How does it compare to Invisalign?

Most adult patients desiring straighter teeth aren’t willing to go through years of traditional orthodontics and have metal showing in their smile. This is partly why clear aligner therapies, like Invisalign, have become so popular. Six Month Smiles does have certain advantages and disadvantages when compared to clear aligners. Bracket and wire placement offers greater control over the precision and speed of tooth movement as compared to clear aligners. Six Month Smiles has overcome the metallic look of traditional braces by making the brackets clear and the wire white. From speaking distances most people won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing braces. But for those still concerned with the appearance of brackets and wires, clear aligners are still a valuable option. The typical time frame of Six Month Smiles is 4-9 months while Invisalign cases typically last 12-18 months. In addition to treatment time being cut by about half, Six Month Smiles will also be less expensive since there are fewer office visits during the course of treatment.

Dr. Caleb M. Estes

Caleb M. Estes, DMD, FAGD, is a dedicated professional with a strong academic background and extensive postdoctoral education. After graduating from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville and earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the SIU School of Dental Medicine, he has constantly pursued advanced training. He has earned a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and is a graduate of the prestigious Kois Center. Before joining Nashville Restorative Dentistry, he served in the US Army as a general dentist and a Captain, deploying alongside US and NATO forces to Afghanistan in 2015. He also completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program with the Army during this time.

Dr. Estes’ passion is to provide excellence in clinical dentistry and patient care while using the best restorative and preventative materials available. Accomplished in both surgical and restorative dentistry, he finds great fulfillment in transforming smiles and instilling confidence in his patients.
