At Nashville Restorative Dentistry, we are dedicated to ensuring each patient who walks through our door feels at ease and cared for as an individual.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
We are passionate about listening first. We want to understand your desires, concerns, priorities, and overall oral health goals. As a new patient, your first visit will consist of a comprehensive exam of your teeth and gums, muscles, and jaw joint, as well as any necessary digital x-rays including 3-D CT imagery. The entire appointment typically lasts about 2 hours. We will pay extra attention to any specific areas of concern you may have, as well as any risks or problems we identify.
After your exam, we will answer any questions you have in order to empower you to make informed treatment decisions that are best for you. We will then develop and discuss what treatment plans are available, timelines, investment amounts, and payment options. If there’s anything you’d like to ask ahead of time, please don’t hesitate to Contact Us.

Save time and fill out your new patient forms before you arrive!
A link for accessing your required new patient paperwork will be texted and/or emailed to you when you schedule your appointment.

Financial Arrangements
Everyone places a different value on dental health. We see it as an investment in a truly healthy life. We strive to deliver superior dental care and arrange customized, individual treatment plans for each patient. We will work with your needs and desires to make treatment as flexible and affordable as possible. We want to give you the care and smile you deserve while finding an approach to your investment that works best for you.
General Payment Options
Nashville Restorative Dentistry accepts cash, personal checks, as well as MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.
We also offer 0% financing through Care Credit for those wanting to spread out their dental investment over time.
Dental Insurance
We place an emphasis on the best technology, facilities, materials, and partner dental labs. Dental insurance is designed to pay for a portion of services, and often won’t fully cover optimal dental care. We are committed to your individual needs and goals and what will be the best solution for you. The role of insurance in your care should be considered supplemental.
We will accept copays and file insurance with any dental insurance plan, but we are not an in-network provider for any dental insurance plans. We will estimate your out of pocket cost, file your insurance claims for you, and assist you in receiving the maximum benefits due to you. We will be happy to provide you with a treatment plan that you fully understand and prioritize treatment in order of necessity to help you maximize your insurance benefits.

FAQs
Will my first dental visit include a treatment plan?
Yes, your first visit includes a comprehensive exam and open discussions about your current oral health status as well as what your goals are. We will collaborate to create a personalized treatment plan based on a blend of your needs, goals, finances, and timeline. This plan outlines any recommended treatment, associated costs, and timelines. It’s a great time to ask questions and discuss any concerns. Clear communication ensures your care aligns with your dental health priorities and expectations. If there are multiple treatment plan options needed to be discussed in detail, we will typically set up a complimentary Zoom appointment as a follow up to your in office comprehensive exam so we can have the time necessary to ensure you fully understand your options prior to committing to a treatment direction.
Can I request a specific dentist for my first appointment?
Yes, please let us know if you have a doctor preference before your appointment. We often aim to pair new patients with our earliest available new patient appointment openings, but we can always accommodate for reserving a time with a particular provider. Building rapport with your dentist during the first visit establishes a comfortable, trusting relationship for future care.
What do I need to bring to my first dentist visit?
Bring a list of your prescription drugs (if any), your insurance card, and a photo ID. Providing any prior clinical documentation or treatment plans you wish to discuss or seek a second opinion on, is also beneficial. These documents help us tailor your care more effectively. Your new patient forms should be easily filled out digitally before your arrival. If for any reason you aren’t able to complete them prior to your appointment, please ensure an early arrival to complete them in person. Preparation ensures a smooth first visit and allows our dental team to focus solely on your care.
Will my first appointment include a cleaning?
Whenever possible, but not always. While some first visits include a cleaning, others may focus solely on diagnostics, such as X-rays, exam, and discussion. Our team assesses your gum health and oral condition to determine whether a standard preventative care cleaning is appropriate or if gum disease treatment would be necessary. Please feel free to discuss your expectations with our team during scheduling to understand the specific services included in your initial visit.
How are dental fears addressed during a new patient visit?
We are committed to accommodating patients with dental anxiety by tailoring your visit and care to your needs. We promise gentle communication and thorough discussion of sedation options, such as nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, or general anesthesia. Let us know your concerns beforehand, and we’ll take extra measures to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible.
Can I book additional treatments during my first visit?
We always want to utilize your time as efficiently as possible and avoid unnecessary trips to the office. In most cases, our preference is to confirm treatment needs and options in person prior to reserving time in our schedule. We can sometimes reserve time for same-day treatments, especially for minor issues. However, more time consuming procedures like crowns or extractions usually require separate appointments. Let us know your goals in advance, so we can plan accordingly. This ensures our ability to prioritize your concerns and address urgent issues efficiently.
Do I need to disclose my medical history for my first visit?
Yes, providing a detailed medical history is essential. Certain conditions, medications, or allergies can impact dental treatment and anesthesia options. Our team will use this information to ensure safe, tailored care. Things like allergies, medications, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, joint replacements, etc may all require alterations to your care plan to ensure predictable and safe results. Please, for your safety, be thorough and update us on medical history changes to maintain effective and safe care.
