TMD / TMJ Treatment
Temporomandibular joint disorder (also called TMD or TMJ disorder) is a misalignment or malfunction of the jaw joint and can cause significant pain, stiffness and damage when left untreated.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious sleep breathing disorder that deprives your body of oxygen, destroys sleep quality, and increases your risk of heart attack and stroke. OSA not only places your body under constant stress at night, but prevents you from enjoying your day-to-day life.
What are the benefits of comprehensive dental care?
Comprehensive dental care offers numerous benefits, including early detection and prevention of dental problems, maintaining healthy teeth and gums, lowering systemic health risks that come from oral disease or inflammation, and enhancing overall aesthetics. Addressing all aspects of oral health helps prevent minor issues from developing into more serious problems, ultimately contributing to improved overall health and well-being.
What does comprehensive dental care include?
Comprehensive dental care encompasses a wide range of services aimed at maintaining optimal oral health. It means we can usually address a wide range of treatment needs, from small to large, without having to send you to numerous other specialist offices. This includes routine preventive measures like regular cleanings and exams, restorative procedures like fillings, crowns, and dental implants, cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening and veneers, and specialized services including orthodontics, sedation dentistry, gum disease treatment, and full mouth rehabilitation. At Nashville Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes tailor these services to each patient’s unique needs, utilizing advanced technology and techniques to ensure excellent outcomes.
How often should I have a dental exam?
There are two types of dental exams, periodic and comprehensive. A comprehensive exam is a detailed, in-depth data collection visit that we perform when a new patient first joins our practice. During a comprehensive exam, we establish a baseline of current oral health, risk factors, treatment needs, and an appropriate preventative care schedule. A periodic exam is the routine exam performed when you come in to have your teeth cleaned. During a periodic exam we are confirming that the existing treatment plan is still appropriate and whether or not any new issues have developed that require treatment. It’s generally recommended to have a periodic dental exam every six to twelve months. These regular check-ups allow us to monitor your oral health, detect potential issues while they are small, and provide timely intervention that can prevent issues from growing into something that requires more extensive or expensive dental work. Every individual has unique needs and risk factors, however. Depending on your circumstances, Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes may suggest a tailored preventative care routine to properly treat and manage your risk factors and maintain your oral health effectively.
How does comprehensive dental care impact overall health?
Oral health is closely linked to overall health. Comprehensive dental care helps prevent oral infection and inflammation from contributing to systemic conditions like heart attack and stroke, diabetes, dementia, and so many more. Maintaining good oral hygiene and addressing dental issues promptly can reduce the risk of these health problems, underscoring the importance of regular dental care as part of a holistic health strategy.
Are cosmetic procedures part of comprehensive dental care?
Yes, cosmetic procedures are integrated into comprehensive dental care. Services such as teeth whitening, veneers, and orthodontics not only enhance the appearance of your smile, they can also improve function and overall oral health. At Nashville Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Jones and Dr. Estes offer a variety of cosmetic treatments to enhance your smile and accomplish your individual goals, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and optimal dental health.
